Ten years ago, Dreadful Locks Studio in Manchester, Connecticut was born—and with it, a powerful journey led by owner and artist Ashli Booska. What started in a bedroom of her home, with Ashli traveling to clients by car (and sometimes by plane!), evolved into a small starter studio, and eventually the beloved private studio it is today.
A key part of her success has been her commitment to clean, dreadlock-safe products—starting with Dollylocks. It was the first product line on her shelves and remains a staple to this day. When she travels to see her Virginia clients twice a year, she even brings her Dollylocks inventory with her. Offering clean options her clients can trust is a top priority.
Ashli’s current personal favorites are the “FREE” Liquid Shampoo and Detox Pack. Both are gentle and versatile—perfect for sensitive skin or for customizing with your favorite essential oils at home. She always encourages clients to hydrate their scalps post-maintenance to ease any tightness and support scalp health—something she believes is the foundation of any great dreadlock journey.
