We’re thrilled to spotlight Lana Guerra (@crudethings), the artist behind the label for our FREE (Unscented) line. Based in New Orleans, Louisiana, Guerra brings her vivid imagination to life through a childlike yet strikingly complex style often described as “Outsider Art” or “Art Brut.” Drawing inspiration from urban graffiti, primitive masks, antique dolls, occult art, and the weathered charm of decaying architecture, Guerra weaves themes of childhood, circus sideshows, New Orleans Voodoo, and raw creativity into her work.
Her process is an improvisational journey—painting, drawing, erasing, and layering—guided by instinct and authentic creative impulses. Often compared to the works of Jean Dubuffet, Paul Klee, and Jean-Michel Basquiat, Guerra’s art is a vivid expression of pure emotion and imagination.
A true mixed media artist, Guerra works across diverse mediums, including painting, tattooing, doll-making, puppetry, photography, and stop-motion animation. She also designs whimsical wigs and costumes for everything from Burning Man to Walt Disney World performances. Her art has been exhibited widely across the United States, Mexico, Canada, England, Turkey, and France, earning her international recognition.
In addition to her artistic creations, Guerra is the owner and founder of Crude Things, a unique art brand with a growing online cult following. Her work invites viewers into a world of color, chaos, and wonder—where creativity knows no limits.
Thank you, Lana, for sharing your incredible talent with us and creating such a beautiful label for our FREE line!
