Meet Erika Ryan @thegoldelocs , better known as Goldie, a passionate loctician and artist with her own studio nestled in the heart of Colorado Springs, CO. Goldie’s loc journey began 8 years ago during a transformative time in her life—a pivotal moment when she was ready to fully embrace her authentic self.

With a group of friends by her side (none of whom were locticians, but that didn’t matter!), she started her journey by creating 18 locs. From that moment, Goldie fell in love with the process, the energy, and the connection it brought. She recalls, “It’s marked in the books as one of the most pivotal moments in my life.”

Her passion grew from there. After a trip to Denver to refine her locs and fully commit to the process, she started her own practice—first working from her tiny apartment and later making house calls across the Pikes Peak region. Another loctician eventually invited her to work in a Denver salon, where she honed her craft before opening her own shop in Colorado Springs.

Goldie’s advice to anyone beginning their loc journey is simple but profound:

“Trust the process. No locs will ever be identical—they’re your dread babies and as unique as you are. Be proud of where they are now and where they’re going. Your journey, just like in life, will have ups and downs, but in the end, it will be absolutely beautiful. And remember: ‘You are PURE f*ing GOLD.’”

When it comes to products, Goldie is all about simplicity. A huge fan of Dollylocks’ Free Line products, she relies on the Cleansing Spray to keep up with her busy life—whether she’s road-tripping in her van, flying internationally, or tackling her day-to-day. She even adds her own essential oil blend, PREMA, to the Cleansing Spray to give it her own personal touch. “It makes my heart so full to combine my own product with a product from such an amazing company. The pairing is flawless.”

We’re so excited to spotlight Goldie and her incredible story! If you’re in Colorado Springs, make sure to check out her studio and experience the passion and care she pours into her work.
