From Childhood Fascination to Global Education
For Marjolein, founder of SaltyDreads, the passion for hair started young. Growing up in The Netherlands, she was always experimenting, giving her barbies new looks and, eventually, installing her very first set of braids nearly 30 years ago. That spark grew into a lifelong journey, refined through numerous courses and hands-on experience.
In 2016, after relocating to Portugal, Marjolein created SaltyDreads. What began as personal exploration evolved into a professional mission: helping others connect with themselves through dreadlocks.
“Dreadlocks are so much more than a hairstyle. They are known to be the extensions of our aura, soul, and energy. Now I dedicate myself to giving people the opportunity to dive into that same feeling and way of taking care of yourself,” she shares.
